Village Life

Experience one of Britain's prettiest villages

Burnham Market is a Georgian village built around a bustling green where you'll find clusters of lively local shops. Have a browse around the boutiques, gift shops, tea rooms and galleries. If you have an event coming up, remember the hat shop is world famous!

The village is a foodie’s heaven, get wonderful fresh bread and croissants and a huge variety of culinary treats for the perfect picnic from the Humble Pie deli. Stock up on your fruit and veg at Uttings, meat reared on the local salt marshes at Howell's butcher, fish and shellfish caught that day at Gurney’s and fine wines at Satchells.

Also on the Green (and just 5 minutes walk from Lark House) sits the famous 17th-century coaching inn turned gastropub, the Hoste Arms. It’s a great place to eat and have drinks in the cosy bar by the fire in the winter or outside in the sunshine watching the village go by in warmer months. Try the fresh Cromer crab or be brave and sample a local pint of Woodforde’s Wherry or Nelson’s Revenge. It also has an excellent spa with a hot tub on the terrace for a spot of pampering.
